Open Question: Changing Group Health Plan and Pre Existing Condition?
I might be changing to my husband's group insurance plan. I have had my own group health coverage for almost 13 months. If I switch to his, am I somehow subjected to the preexisting conditions issue? I had a minor condition that was treated and went away, but it seems to have possibly come back. At my annual appointment last week, the doctor asked me to come back in two weeks for a checkup on that condition to see if it returned. My return appointment will be a couple of days after the effective date of the NEW group policy. I may also have to have laparoscopic surgery, which he mentioned at the appointment but was not discussed other than the words "the next step might be laparoscopy". Is the new insurance going to exclude this procedure somehow?
