Open Question: My hip pops and has minor pain, what could be wrong?

I'm a 24 year old guy. Around 6 or 7 months ago when I moved my leg just right, or while sitting down, shifted my weight just right onto my hip, I would hear a loud popping sound in my hip. It was just like when you crack your knuckles (felt like it too). It didn't happen every time I moved my hip though, it seemed to take some time for it to build up, then it would pop again.

I didn't think much of it, but after a while, I started to feel minor pain in my hip, and to this day I still do. It's especially noticeable after I have been standing at work for several hours or walking around a lot.

My hip still pops, though I try my best not to make it happen. I realize the best thing to do is to see a doctor, but as I have no health insurance, and not much money (I'm a poor college student) I was hoping to get some advice on here first. Thanks a lot.
