Bachmann: Stay-at-Home Moms Understand Economy Better Than Husbands

Former presidential candidate Michele Bachmann fiercely defended Ann Romney and stay-at-home moms Sunday, blasting Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen's criticism that Romney "has never worked a day in her life" as "shocking and insulting." Open Question: Do these new work rules seem fair. Would you quit your job over them?

I work in an office of 24 people, mostly women like me. We got a new boss and he implemented some unusual work rules. He believed we are more productive if we are comfortable at work so he asked us to wear comfortable clothes to work. Pants are fine for us women if we want to wear them. Just nothing tight or restrictive.

Before we had to pay part of our health insurance premium. That cost has been eliminated. However, there is a catch. No heals over 1 inch are allowed. Our new boss told us that the cost of health insurance for foot problems with people that wear high heels is 9 times what it is for people that don’t. By not allowing high heels, he could eliminate the part of the health insurance premium we had to pay. He encouraged us to wear New Balance walking shoes and gave each of us a $150 Norstrom coupon to buy our first pair. Instead of casual Friday as some companies, we now have casual all week. We hope this will save us a lot of money on the cost of clothes. Do you think that is true?

We can now also can get a free massage at noon or after work. I had one yesterday and it made me feel great. We also have access to a free personal trainer to help us stay in shape if we want to use one. Free Weight Watcher meeting are held after work for people want to loose weight. The new boss thinks extra weight causes medical problems and drives up his cost of health insurance. Also, if we enroll in Nutrisystems, the company will pay one half the cost of the food. There is no pressure to do the weight loss things. It is voluntary. Do them if you want to, don’t if you don’t want to.

I think these are great work place rules. Some of the other women think these rules are too restrictive. What do you think? Is not wearing high heals a good tradeoff for no cost medical insurance? In a time when so many people are unemployed, it just does not seem right to complain when you have a great boss.
