Open Question: I have hep c. Can my boss discriminate against me and make me see a doctor?
I've had hep c since 2005 and was tested while in rehab. I have not been treated for it as I am without health insurance. My question is what is considered discrimination? For instance I have worked for circle k gas station for almost 6 years.And when I checked my schedule this week I noticed that there was a 30 min meeting with my boss scheduled that was unusual. I went in for my meeting today and She said that sometime last week a customer over heard me talking to my coworker about my hep c. and she called corporate . She will not come into the store and is now telling all her friends not to come in either.My boss said that they (Corporate) wanted her to meet with me to ask if it was contagious. Of course I made a mistake in talking about this at work but now I fear the worst and May be asked to see a doctor which I can not afford or else I would have went already. Also my boss made a comment that she doesn't think I will lose my job but they might need a note from a doctor saying its ok for me to work. Is this legal? Please help I feel sick inside now like everyones afraid of me now!
